Forrest Yoga is a powerful, therapeutic, hot yoga system.
Created by yoga pioneer, Medicine Woman and author, Ana Forrest, Forrest Yoga is practised by thousands of people across the globe each day.
It’s an exciting, empowering, healing, fun, sweaty practice that is specifically designed to help with the challenges of living in the 21st Century. Forrest Yoga addresses common injuries and conditions including; abdominal problems, constipation, poor assimilation of nutrients, low energy, depression, lower back pain, tension in the neck and shoulders, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches and stress. It’s a continually evolving yoga system that is built on what works, and importantly, what feels good.
Everyone can practice Forrest Yoga — yoga newbies, experienced practitioners and those with injuries. Each class is tailored to the people in the room.
Forrest Yoga teachers skilfully work with all levels of practitioner. A beginner does beginner poses, advanced practitioners do advanced poses and those with injuries are taught to modify for healing.
Forrest Yoga is known for it’s strong abdominal exercises and 8 ‘basic moves’, which contrary to many styles of yoga, include ‘relaxing the neck’.
We practice in a heated room (approx 28 degrees) to encourage cell tissue movement and release as well as detoxification. You’ll hold poses for longer in Forrest Yoga - giving you an opportunity to feel the pose and get connected to your breath. It's exciting work!
The roots of Forrest Yoga are firmly planted in Native American Ceremony and Medicine, and the teachings of our ancestors — the first custodians of our lands. You get to use your yoga poses to go deeper into the Great Mystery of who you are and take what you learn on your mat into the rest of your life. That is useful and extremely empowering.
IN EACH FORREST YOGA HOT CLASS
We always set an intent (a focus), include pranayama (breathing exercises), a warm up, a hot part — to get you sweating — and a warm down to specifically down-regulate your nervous system.
Forrest Yoga classes are beautifully and intelligently sequenced so that your body feels ready for the more challenging asanas (yoga poses). You'll also experience delicious hands-on assists in each class to help you feel the pose in the most beneficial way.
We welcome people who are pregnant, postpartum and those who have injuries and conditions. Poses are modified to suit your needs.
